Kent Food Producer of the Year 2017

Just look at this!

We are so delighted to have won the title of Kent Food Producer of the Year 2017 in the Taste of Kent Awards.

Thank you for all the votes that took us to the final.  After mystery shops, a presentation to eight judges, a tasting session and scrutiny of our suppliers list and invoices – we won!

Big thanks for all our customers and suppliers support and of course the Bessie team that made it possible.

Foraging Forays

There is something particularly satisfying about finding delicious things to eat that are growing in the wild – and all free! Here at the Parlour we are lucky to have our own small holding brimming with wildlife, bountiful hedgerows and surrounded by ancient woodlands. We have also teamed up with the wonderfully knowledgeable Lucia Stuart, author, chef and illustrator, to offer foraging forays that explore the fantastic coast on our doorstep.  We have enjoyed cooking with seaweed, nettles, Elderflowers and berries, blackberries, hawthorns, sloes, wild damsons, buckthorn, wild garlic, dandelion, roses and violets and much more.  Look out for more foraging opportunities in the Parlour!

Welcome to Bessie’s Tea Parlour

Welcome to Bessie’s Tea Parlour, a little touch of nostalgia in Broadstairs. We opened our door on 4th August 2014, just in time for the very busy Folk Week and we haven’t stopped since! After three months of renovation to our old cellar I now have a lovely place to bake and it’s wonderful to see the newly decorated Parlour buzzing with locals and visitors alike. We really appreciate everyone’s support and custom in our opening few months – long may it continue.
